About Me

I am a Montreal based photographer who has always been intrigued by people and  places as well as the details of the world around me.

After many years working in the public education system I decided to embrace my lifelong appreciation for the arts; focussing on photography which has been a hobby and an interest since childhood. In 2006 I began to exhibit my photographs quickly gaining admirers and ultimately selling several framed works. Soon after I was become a member of ArtTram, a non profit artist association based in Montreal. Within a year I was invited to join the Board of Directors. I have held the role of Board president since 2020. The organization currently has 75 artist members.

The opportunity to travel to many remote parts of the world, including Africa, India, Southeast Asia and South America, participating in over ten international volunteer programs along the way, has provided innumerable opportunities to photograph a vast variety of natural and urban landscapes, native flora and fauna, as well as engage with local populations and culture. My fascination with the human condition and desire to learn as much as possible about life in foreign lands has opened doors to a host of memorable and recorded experiences.

In 2013 I opened an art gallery in the Mile Ex district where I tested my skills at curating exhibitions for other artists while working on personal projects of my own. For the past 25 years I have been a supporter of an artist residency program in upstate New York, Art OMI. Through that association I become better versed in the world of contemporary art and have enjoyed visits to numerous private and public art installations all over the U.S. and abroad.

The desire to capture and document as much of any new environment as possible energizes me and keeps my visual eye keenly focussed on my surroundings. I am particularly drawn to documenting  the ordinary elements of everyday life, contrasts between and within natural and manmade creations, everyday human interaction and all things nostalgic. Observing the ways in which the angles of urban architecture, both modern and decaying, catch the changing light of day has forever caught my attention. My portfolio includes landscape, flora, still life, urban architecture, portraits, documentary, abstract and more.
